Deacon is a 68lb dark chocolate stud who excels in any environment. He is a joy to live with in the house and is also very quiet and clean when in the kennel who airs by himself and doesn't bother other dogs. Deacon loves people but is also independent and will not overdrawn you with attention. He has been very easy to train and picks up on concepts quite quickly. He is not soft but doesn’t require a hard correction either. Tim Springer of Dynamic Retrievers had him last winter in Texas and said, " every person that requires a hunting dog should have one like Deacon- a joy to be around". Deacon has been one of our top upland guide dogs in SD at Firesteel Creek Lodge for the past two seasons. When not guiding, he spends the rest of the fall chasing waterfowl and upland birds across the Midwest with Tucker.
At a little over 2 years old he obtained his AKC Master Hunter Title and Qualified for 2023 Master Nationals. Tucker took him to the line at a qualifying field trial and placed 2nd in Tuckers' very first time running a field trial, thus becoming QAA. His trial accomplishments are not done, and he can compete in any venue. This next year Deacon will begin to compete in Bird Dog Challenge events along with pointing lab tests as he has shown a natural point.
